We employed Steve Boyd Contracting earlier this year to undertake some significant contouring in the back block of the orchard prior to replanting with Kiwifruit.

We were impressed from the beginning with Steve’s assessment of the work. He provided us with an overview of how he would undertake the work, the estimated time and cost involved, and when he would be available. The work involved not only removing the top soil but also the volcanic ash prior to contouring taking place.

Despite it being a wet winter the machinary was on site as advised and all work was completed by the agreed date. The task was completed to a very high standard and under budget. We were really impressed with how Steve managed the contouring  and the end result.

The firm has been a pleasure to deal with and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Steve has done three contouring jobs for me, the last two were done this year and last year. When considering contouring for kiwifruit blocks it’s a balancing act between cost and benefit. Of course there can be problems if it’s not done right so I only want the best person for the job. Steve knows exactly what’s needed and has the experience and knowledge to get it right.  Last year we worked very successfully with an area that crossed the boundary between my place and the neighbour. The final result was a seamless contour between both properties. This year the job involved a deep cut in one place exposing heavy clay. This was undercut and back filled with ash clay and topsoil to restore good fertility. I like the fact that Steve applies the same test as I do when it comes assessing feasibility, unless there is complete confidence of the outcome we won’t do the job.

 We have contracted Steve Boyd three times over the last 7 years to develop fence lines around  wetlands(7ha and 2km of riparian margins), form multiple tracks, and a farm road on our 120ha hill country property at Apata.  We have always been impressed by the quality of Steve's work and his ability to visualise the "finished project" before he starts. The contour and soil types on our property are challenging but we are grateful that Steve's insight into these projects has meant that we have had no problems with any of the earthworks.

Hi Steve,  We wish to thank you for the recent contour work you have done on our avocado orchard, the finished results has turned out far better than we could have ever expected.
